E-learning reaches civic schools, students get tablet computers

Sundaram TabletThe Payal Tiwari Foundation in association with the Pune Municipal Corporation and Sundaram Group on Tuesday distributed tablet computers to class VI students of Kasturba Gandhi and Mahatma Jotiba Phule schools.

Mumbai region Congress president Kripashankar Singh was the chief guest at the event, organised at the Kasturba Gandhi School grounds. PMC Education Board chairperson and Payal Tiwari Foundation founder Sangeeta Tiwari spoke about tablet computers and explained how they could be of help to students. MLC Dipti Chowdhary, Deputy Mayor Prasanna Jagtap, corporator Sunil Gaikwad and Lata Rajguru were present.

Union Budget 2011: Education Hiked by 24% & Health by 20%

The Union Budget 2011-12 aims to sustain economic growth, strengthen infrastructure, moderate the price rise, particularly of agricultural produce and reduce social imbalances through inclusive development. Presenting the budget 2011-12 in the Lok Sabha today, the Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee said that the budget is a transition towards a more transparent and result oriented economic management system in India.  He said while developments on India’s external sector have been encouraging, continued high food prices have remained our principal concern.  He said that the trend revealed shortcomings in distribution and marketing system. The Finance Minister said that huge differences between wholesale and retail prices are at the expense of remunerative prices for the farmers and competitive prices for  consumers.

The exercise book makers of India, quick to spot a business opportunity, are rushing to put them on the covers so that kids can continue to admire them even when they are not glued to the television. “Notebook designs change with the times. Since T20 is the flavour of the season, we’ll put the T20 heroes on our cover along with some information on the new game format,” says Amrut Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of Sundaram Multipap Limited, makers of the popular Sundaram brand of exercise books in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa.

A few years ago, as the fag end of the summer vacations, it was routine to cover the textbooks and notebooks with brown paper and write names on them. Quality notebooks, that are colourful, have made this a more or less redundant exercise.

Sundaram Edusys launches virtual classroom

Sundaram Edusys, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sundaram Multi Pap, has launched “Sundaram e-class” – an innovative product based on virtual classroom technology for students of eighth, ninth and tenth standards of Maharashtra S.S.C. Board in English and Marathi medium.

The e-class has features such as animations, demos of science lab experiments, besides learning techniques such as mind maps and important questions after every chapter.

Sundaram multi pap ltd, one of the country’s largest school paper stationery manufacturers and exporters, has set up a wholly owned subsidiary Sundaram Edusys Pvt Ltd to serve the fast-growing learning-solution segment.

Sundaram Edusys creates trial version of Maharashtra SSC syllabus

Sundaram Multi Pap Ltd has announced that the wholly owned subsidiary of the Company namely “Sundaram Edusys Pvt. Ltd.” has successfully created the trial version of the software consisting of Maharashtra SSC Board’s 8th, 9th & 10th Std. syllabus course – as a virtual class in English and Marathi.

The product contains each subject with a real and animated teacher in a virtual classroom teaching each subject chapter by chapter. The entire package of all the subjects is offered in the form of most versatile software which could be loaded on to a PC, laptop or even given in a device like Set-top box which could be easily plugged in to television at home. This could be installed in schools, in the classroom and the teacher concerned could use this particular software as a convenient tool for teaching. Individual students can also use this software for their personal use at home whereby what they were taught at the school gets revised, enabling the student better grasping of the subject.
